Long Term Disability (LTD)
Your Employer pays the premiums for this coverage at no cost to you.
LONG TERM DISABILITY PAYMENTS equal 66% of your pre-disability earnings up to a maximum of $15,000 per month. If you remain fully disabled, payments could continue until social security normal retirement age.
The insurance carrier must determine that you meet the definition and stipulations of the long term disability contract. The disability must result from an illness or injury that is not work-related.
You must be disabled for 90 straight days to satisfy the "elimination period" before benefits could be paid.
Payments are limited to a maximum of 24 months per lifetime for the following conditions
(or any combination of these conditions):
1. Mental nervous.
2. Substance abuse.
3. Musculoskeletal / connective tissue.
4. Other limited conditions.
